Call for Submissions CLOSED 07/16/2009
I am happy to report that this anthology, titled Shifting Sands: Jewish-American Women Speak Out Against the Occupation, will be published by Whole World Press in Spring 2010. Add Comment The essays under review thus far are amazing in their scope, originality, and insight. We are still looking for more. Please check out the group and invite your friends. Also, I am always open to suggestions of people to contact directly who may have written/want to write a personal essay for this anthology. The group can be found/joined at: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=76485486755 After I wrote the piece below for DailyKos, I read with interest and respect the responses by Arab-Americans to the situation in the Middle East. Having just written about my cousin's work with Combatants for Peace, I realized I was missing a vital link, some amazing writing, and the opportunity to truly forge a united American voice for peace in the Middle east. I humbly and enthusiastically seek submissions from Arab Americans interested in contributing to this project. Details (updated) are located in the Call for Submissions. Check out the submissions page for some compelling words from acclaimed Israeli novelist David Grossman. Promoting Peace 10/22/2008
WND has been working hard to promote this anthology and encourage a wide variety of creative nonfiction and personal essays addressing peace between Israelis and Palestinians and opposing the occupation. If you know of a good match for the anthology--a person who might be interested in writing or has already written on the subject, a website that lists calls for submissions, a pro-peace group whose members may include writers...please post a comment or email us at submit2wakenowdiscover at gmail.com Peace anthology in progress... 10/20/2008
...and the Call for Submissions has been made. I look forward to reading many amazing stories about Jewish-American perspectives on peace in the Middle East and ending Israel's occupation of Palestine, and learning how we reconcile loving the country itself yet hating what its government is doing. |
